ARD Series “Mabuse” (WT), starring Marie Bloching, wraps filming

The legend of Dr. Mabuse returns in a contemporary cyber thriller starring Marie Bloching, Friedrich Mücke and Clemens Schick, among others.
Filming has wrapped on Mabuse (WT), a six-part series for the ARD Mediathek. Directed by Boris Kunz and shot in Munich, Prague and the surrounding areas, the series stars Friedrich Mücke, Marie Bloching, Clemens Schick, Philip Froissant, Zoe Valks, Fridolin Sandmeyer, Annika Enard, Malaya Takeda, Christian Heiner Wolf, Lorna Ishema, Sascha Geršak and Maximilian Brückner.
The new adaptation brings the iconic story into the digital age: where hypnosis and disguise were once used to commit crimes, today the weapons are AI, disinformation and virtual reality. Following a mysterious series of violent crimes, the investigation is repeatedly led astray until an avatar named Dr. Mabuse appears in a virtual simulation and claims to be the mastermind behind the crimes. But who – or what – is really behind Mabuse?

Mabuse (WT) is produced by Keshet Fiction Germany in co-production with CCC Filmkunst, commissioned by ARD Degeto Film and Hessischer Rundfunk. Boris Kunz directs and also serves as co-head writer alongside Peter Kocyla, with Oskar Sulowski also writing for the series. Pascal Schmit is director of photography. The producers are Tina Hechinger, Christina Christ and Axel Kühn, with Alice Brauner as co-producer. Konstantin Kühnle and Boris Kunz serve as creative producers. The commissioning editors are Carolin Haasis and Karsten Günther for ARD Degeto Film and Jörg Himstedt for Hessischer Rundfunk.
